Cult and Magic in the Himalayas
"In the GALLERY and BLACK BOX, an insight is given into the complex world of the Himalayas with its early animistic rituals, shamanistic seances and Lamaistic ceremonies. The original photographs by filmmaker and photographer Ulrike Ottinger, which she has taken in Bhutan, Kashmir, Ladakh and Mongolia since 1985, enter into a lively exchange with the objects of shaman masks, guardian spirit and guardian figures, jewellery, ritual woodwork, drums and bells. All objects come from two German private collections.
